Opened in 2010, The Acacia Centre is a redevelopment of the original Annesley Woodhouse Community Centre opened in the 1970s. The new centre offers multi-purpose rooms and modernised facilities from which an expansive range of activities can be delivered.
The buidling is fitted with environmentally friendly features including efficient underfloor heating and rainwater harvesting to cut mains water use.
In 2007, Ashfield District Council accepted local charity, broadcast and training body, Ashfield Community & Media Training's proposal for a 30-year lease as part of an asset transfer deal
upon which the organisation would take on a community development role by generating activities for local people and making the building available for their use.
